It can be challenging choosing the right tools for you and your business, especially when there is a cost involved, but finding the right ones can help save you a lot of time. Luckily, there are FREE tools available to help make your digital marketing easier.

We’ve compiled a list of our ten favourite free digital marketing tools and why we love them, so you can check them out and make your process run with a little more ease. 💻

Google Business Profile

Your Google Business Profile is essentially your business’ listing page on Google. This is incredibly valuable as it allows you to communicate what your business is, what you offer, and your details (website, hours, contact info) to new and returning clients. It also allows you to be easily found in a Google search.

Having an effective Google Business Profile is beneficial to your business as it allows viewers to find you and have their questions answered through the information you provide. You can also receive customer reviews to add a personal layer to your content too.

Pro Tip: Make sure your website has proper SEO implemented to boost your visibility and ranking on Google.

Canva (Basic Membership)

Canva is a user-friendly design platform used to create visual content like social media posts, posters, presentations, and more! The free membership includes a collection of templates, photos, graphics, and designs you can choose from to create content for your business.

We love Canva because it allows us to create posts for our clients that are unique to them and their brand. Canva is a great way to put together the content you need in a timely manner. Be sure to watch out for elements that are marked premium. They will leave a watermark on your downloads if you don’t upgrade your membership.

Pro Tip: Make sure to use your brand colours and fonts to create consistency from post to post!

Google Data Studio

Google Data Studio is an online tool for converting your data into customizable reports. In 2016, Google announced a free version of Data Studio for individuals and small teams. Google Data Studio provides a platform to showcase your stats and analytics in a professional and understandable manner.

Google Data Studio is completely customizable so you can easily adjust the information to showcase the exact data you are interested in seeing and learning from.

Pro Tip: Use Google Data Studio to compare your analytics from month to month. Use this information to help form your business plan and learn from it to continue to grow your business.

Meta Business Suite

Meta Business Suite is a tool that centralizes your Facebook, Instagram, and messaging tools in one place. With this, you can save time and see all of your messages, comments, likes, and interactions in one location. Business Suite also offers a planner and scheduling option to organize your Facebook and Instagram posts and stories and plan them accordingly.

Pro Tip: Make sure to use your brand colours and fonts to create consistency from post to post!

Later (Basic Membership)

Much like Meta Business Suite and Creator Studio, Later is a social media scheduling tool. What makes Later different is that they are an all-in-one social marketing platform, meaning you can schedule your posts for Facebook and Instagram as well as other platforms such as LinkedIn, Pinterest, Twitter, and even TikTok.

A feature we love about Later is that you can visually plan your month out. Their scheduling allows for a calendar view where you can see which image you have planned on each day!

Pro Tip: The free later membership only allows for one social platform to be used. We recommend using Meta Business Suite or Creator Studio to schedule your Facebook and Instagram posts and utilizing a free Later account for an additional social media platform!

Creator Studio

Creator Studio is a social media scheduling platform that allows you to post, manage, and measure your Facebook and Instagram accounts. From Creator Studio you can easily organize your posts and even reels to plan them out.

We love being able to schedule content in advance so that you know each and every post will go out when you need it to.

Pro Tip: Look into the days and time that your audience is most engaged and schedule your posts accordingly.

Google Analytics

Google Analytics is an online analytics service that tracks and reports website traffic. This is a great tool to get an analysis of how well your website is performing on Google. Take a look at who is visiting your website, what pages are being viewed, and how many people are accessing your website.

Pro Tip: You can still track website goals and conversions without needing to add in any custom code or Google Tag Manager! Simply set up goals in your analytics to track form submissions, page visits or time on page. This initial goal setting will help you better understand how people interact with your website.

Copy.ai (Basic Membership)

Thinking of the right caption can be difficult, especially when you’ve been working on posts for your business for weeks, months, or even years. We want all of our posts to stand out and bring value and that’s where Copy.ai comes in!

Copy.ai is an AI-powered copywriter where you can type in your general description, choose the tone of voice you want for the post, and receive copywriting ideas and examples! This is a great way to take your general ideas and put a new twist or perspective on it.

Pro Tip: Even if you don’t use the exact copy provided by Copy.ai, use it as inspiration for future posts. This is a great tool to help you think outside of the box.

Bitly

Bitly is a website where you can input your lengthy website links and have them shortened. This is a great tool when you are looking to include a link in your content but don’t want it tobe distracting from the rest of the post.

Pro Tip: Bookmark Bitly and use this feature to keep links looking neat, professional and consistent. This way your links won’t overwhelm your posts.

PinkPapaya

The PinkPapaya app is a photo and video editing iPhone app from Sarah Nicole of The Bird’s Papaya. This app makes quality editing as simple as can be. The app features on-trend filters, textured overlays, customizable presets, and text options.

We love this app because you can take dull or lackluster visual assets and bring them to life in a matter of seconds with a few adjustments.

Pro Tip: Create a consistent look with your images by making a preset with the edits you love and using it on all your content.

These are a few of the free tools available to help you tackle the digital marketing world. You’ll find that when you become comfortable with them and truly utilize them, you can save time, create a consistent look for your content, and even learn about how your business functions and how you can continue to grow.
